American Christmas, Skiing in Kirkwood, New Years in San Francisco and Party in Vegas!
And all this combined in a fun Road trip with my older brother Robin (aka Bo).
I just looked it up we drove 1528miles (2500km) that makes a total of sitting in the car for 28 hours and going from see level up to 7690 ft (2344 m) Damn it was a lot of driving (for me because my brother is not allowed to drive right now but that's a different story) it was def. worth it though. But lets start from the beginning!

We started off in Laguna Beach where our family friends Stevie and Jason invited us to celebrate the American way of Christmas with their family. It was a really fun night. We had Fondue, a lot of beer, wine and other specials. We ended up rapping the last presents until 2.30 in the morning. It was kinda weird because we (in Germany) always get our presents in the evening but like most of you know the Americans get them on Christmas morning. So Aidan -Stevies and Jasons son- woke Robin and me at 7.00 in the morning because he was so excited to open everything... I think both of us were still not really awake when he unwrapped his first present. He got a looooot of stuff but it was fun watching him wanting more and more :) thats how kids are i guess they can never get enough. Anyways it was fun to see how the Americans celebrate Christmas. Especially when you look out of the window and you see the palm trees in the front of the house!
Bo and me were thinking about going skiing (snowboarding) after Christmas but we had noooo clue where to go and after looking for hotels in Mammoth and Bear Mountain we did not think that we can't afford either. And there was also New Years coming up... Dang it what shall we do. The fact that I've not been to San Francisco yet helped a little so we booked a hotel in San Fran for New Year Eve... But the Skiing Problem was still not solved...Until Stevie and Jason again invited us to come for a Skiing Trip to Kirkwood in Tahoe... Hmmm we were not sure about that... they already gave us sooo much. So they left, still telling us to think about coming up to meet them in Kirkwood....
I was supposed to babysit some friends kids on Dec 27th so we could not leave before the 28th anyways.... at least that's what we thought. Apparently I got a call from Lisa (who's kids I was supposed to sit) telling me that she does not need me anymore... I looked at Robin and said "Let's drive up to Kirkwood...NOW"... Ok I have to say it was already 4pm and it takes at least 10.5 hours to go up there and like I already said I was the only one who can drive but we anyways did it. We only drove up to Stockton which was still 2.5 hours away from Kirkwood because it got late and we did not want to go up to 7690ft in the middle of the night with a shitty car. The next morning we left kinda early because we wanted to go for a shred in the afternoon. Unfortunately my brothers feet are too big, so we could not rent Snowboard bindings for him that day. If you imagine that 24h earlier we were just sitting at the beach taning in the sun and now we are in the mountains freezing in the snow... unbelievable... So we waited for Stevie and Jason to arrive to check in to our Lodge... It looked more like a oversize family apartment tho... you cannot believe how huge it was. The next day we all went out on the slopes together. It was a beautiful morning, even though it was a bit cloudy.. we had a lot of fun! Miriam, who spontaneously came up to Kirkwood too, was on her skis for the first time after 2 years again. I had a lot of fun helping her get down some very steep slopes. I really like Kirkwood, it was small - if you compare it to Austrian resorts- but you had a lot of possibilities to go free riding! Skiing through fresh powder through the trees is a lot of fun I've not done it in a while. Our second day was filled with awesomeness :) Bluebird, fresh snow, cute little fun park and a lot of energy and fun inside of us! Bo and me went straight to the park and spend all day in it. Filming, jumping, riding... exactly what we need to be happy. Oh Yeah we were soooo happy! I don't know how he does it but in the last two seasons my brother managed to bust 3 Snowboards... But the problem this time was... it was a rental board. thank god the guys from the store were nice enough so we did not have to pay 200$ to repair the damage.
We left Kirkwood he next morning, meanwhile Dec. 31, to head out to San Francisco for New Years Eve. Cant believe this year is already over again. So many awesome thing happened the passed year! Unbelievable! Our Hotel was located in the center of attention which was awesome because that means we don't have to walk around for ages to find a place to party... At least we thought so... but it was not like that actually. Our plan was to eat something (we ended up eating the best burger on earth at SUPER DUPER BURGER), go for some drinks to a bar and watch the fireworks at the peer! As we all know PLANS ARE MADE TO FAIL! Ja the eating worked out fine ... but the rest...just kinda... We started our walk down to the bay to see if we can find a bar, club or anything to have a few drinks without paying a lot of money to get in but there was nothing ... nowhere... Instead we experienced something you could never ever find in Germany. While we were walking through the streets of the bay we say hundreds of people sitting there... OK I know that's nothing too spectacular.. BUT they were all (or at least 90% of them) SOBER! Can you believe that. In Germany everyone is drunk already at 8pm. How can that be possible. Are they seriously just sitting in the cold with blankets to wait for the fireworks? YES they were! It was soooo strange! Both of us were pretty shocked about that. We were not sure if that was good or bad tho, because the party was kinda missing. After running around for two hours we finally found a bar in the middle of nowhere. The security guy told us he has never seen anyone being sooo happy about finding a bar. 2 shots of Patron (BEST TEQUILA EVER) 2 Vodka Bull and 2 Whiskey Coke later it was time to go and watch the fireworks. It was beautiful! Shot from 2 boats in the bay underlined with some music and it lasted for at least 20 minutes. Just awesome (LOL I really like this word I know :)). We ended up being totally drunk and having a great time! The next day Robin took me on a little sightseeing tour and I have to admit San Fran is a beautiful. Steep hills, beautiful bridges, beautiful bay awesome weather!! Jaaa I am serious 2 days of bluebird! Guess we were just very lucky ;)
Next Stop Laaaaasss Veeeggaaasss! Hmmm Ok that stop was actually not on our road trip map but we kinda spontaneously hopped into my car and drove 10 hours to Vegas! WHY ? hmmm to win some money, see my friend Miriam, support Weird is the New Cool and to show Robin the fun parts of Sin City! Ok actually he showed me the most fun part of Vegas but I ll tell you about that later... In case you are looking for a not too expensive but really good Hotel in Vegas I can def recommend the Tuscany! Large rooms with a huge bathroom, couches, a kitchen area, close to the strip and everything only 15$ (if you go during the week) and 50$ (on the weekend). Of course our first stop was gambling in the casinos. This time I was not as lucky as the first time I went to Vegas but it was still a fun night. Ok let's get to the really fun part of Vegas. It's called Stratosphere and is kinda like a reverse free fall tower. I have to admit I almost pied my pants because I was so scared in the beginning but the feeling I had when it shoots you up is amazing! Sitting in the seats Miriam and me hold hands because we were so scared. It was sooo damn high and I am not even afraid of hights. Then you hear the pumps fizz and my brother started counting ...3...2...1... BOOOOOM. 2 seconds later you are at the highest spot in Vegas! It was the best feeling I've experienced in a while. Zero gravity! It feels like you are flying. While I m writing this I can still feel the exact same feeling of being free and released inside of me. Just Awesome! You HAVE to do that if you go to Vegas! It's worth it!!!!
After that we went to the actual reason why we came to Vegas --> WEIRD IS THE NEW COOL a band from Arizona. I already talked to you about them in my High 5 Blogpost. In the meantime I became good friends with them and I really wanted to support them on their tour, thats why we drove all the way to Vegas :)! It was not that crowded but Miriam and me still danced our asses off!!! :D
I really want you, to get to know them and maybe you will get as addicted to their music as me. I will probably write a blogpost just for WINC soon. Until then check em out on Facebook, Spotify, Youtube or Itunes!

We really did not sleep that much that night but we had to go back to Huntington Beach! Oh whatever we are young no Problem! I think both of us, my brother and me, had "make a road trip through Vegas" on out to-do list! We can def. cross that off now! I had such a great time with him. We laughed, dinked and smoked a lot and it was not the cheapest thing to do but it was def worth it! Hope you enjoyed the post. I know its a lot to read but I hope you can see how much fun it was!

Such a cool post Kim! I am so glad you are having fun out here and got to spend time with your brother!
